Construction Methods

While most existing homes in this style use conventional wood framed construction, Hill Country architecture is especially suited to a number of emerging construction methods.  The traditional use of deep-set, recessed windows is especially complemented with various kinds of concrete block systems and newer methods such as Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs).  These strategies tend to offer great gains in longevity and energy efficiency over traditional construction.  The simple, elegant massing that Hill Country villa architecture favors is quite achievable with the following construction methods:
